Trafficking of illicit art and antiquities to Asian and Oceanic markets

The global network of illicit antiquities smuggling can most often be generalized as the trafficking of illegal cultural objects from poor countries to wealthy countries. While a somewhat simplified view, generally, wealthy countries have been proven to drive the demand for cultural objects and facilitate a smuggling culture within less economically stable countries. However, increasingly new analysis indicates that the international flow of the illicit art and antiquities market is growing to include trafficking from wealthy countries to wealthy countries.
